Today, hydro power production is the most efficient power source with no waste byproducts. And small-scale hydro-turbines are generally seen to be the biggest and most important component of a growing hydro-power industry.
In Canada, many remote communities rely on diesel gen sets for power. These require costly maintenance, are noisy and inefficient compared with small hydro. A well designed, low-maintenance hydro site may be a better option if there is a nearby river.
Thordon Energy has been working locally in Ontario with First Nation organizations since 2020 to develop clean power generating, pollution-free micro hydro-turbines that would reduce the dependency of diesel fuel generators in remote communities.
Thordon Bearings has designed and constructed the UHE100, an Ultra-High Efficiency Micro-Hydro Turbine are fitted with Thordon grease-free bearings and seals offering the user the following benefits:
- the highest efficiency possible
- completely non-polluting
- requires minimal attendance and maintenance
- low noise

TEMISKAMING SHORES – Could electricity generation return to Pete’s Dam Park?
The founder of a company that has developed what it calls an ultra high efficiency micro hydro-turbine believes it can.
Thordon Energy is a sister company to Thordon Bearings, a manufacturer of pollution-free bearings and seals. A second manufacturing plant is located in Slupsk, Poland and began operating in 2013. Slupsk is close to the Baltic Sea about half way between Szczecin and Gdansk.
